Eliana Marie

Congrats to us!
Welcome Eliana Marie
7 lbs 4 oz
18.5 in
10-20-11
I cannot express how much I love this girl. She is just the most precious gift that we have received. Before making it to the hospital the day Eliana was born I had contractions for two weeks. Not just weak contractions. You know the ones they call "false labor." You would think people would believe you when you told them you were having contractions. No these contractions were waking me up in the middle of the night. Of course I thought they may have been false at first and didn't wake up my mom or Casey but when I was waking up every 30 min. that led me to believe I was in real labor. Nope, I was sent home 2 times. Finally the 3rd time I was able to stay. Just before going to the hospital we went for a walk. I was taking an online college course. The course ended the same day she was due 10/22/2011. I was working on my final. I was working ahead so that if I was early, I was ahead enough that if I missed days I wouldn't worry. I was doing my last assignment. Through it I was having strong contractions every 5 min lasting about 30 seconds. When I got to the hospital and they put me on the monitor sure enough I was having contractions very close to each other. At that point they were every 2 mins. I was only dilated to 2 and 80% effaced. So why did I stay...well her heart rate was too high and they doctor decided I should stay. After that...it kinda went downhill. I wasn't progressing after 5 but of course this happened after I got epidurals...yes that was an "S" at the end. I got it once and it only worked on half my body....left side. Perhaps because the doctor did it while I was laying on my left side. He says that wasn't the reason. So what happens next. They give me a stronger dosage. Didn't work. So I get the epidural again. This time its straight with the stronger dosage. hmmm. All right I can't feel my right side but who cut off my entire left side. Right side= strong dosage....Left side= one dosage + stronger dosage + stronger dosage....not good.  The pain before the epidural don't ask me about...I don't seem to remember after seeing the most beautiful baby on the planet. Anyways. Because I stayed at 5 for 3 hours and Elianas heart rate was high I had to get a C-section. Let me tell you it was the most horrifying feeling. I thought I was going to die. I want to believe it was the too much of epidural. I think I was passed out for most of the surgery. Then I remember hearing "That is a lot of hair!" I knew it was almost over. They showed her over the curtain to me but all I remember seeing was her cute little bum and black hair. I passed out again. Only for minutes because then her daddy brought her to me where I could see her. So peaceful. So cute. So much love. When I was taken to my room the nurse said she was going to get her. The nurse came empty handed. "Sorry I was not aware that your baby was sent to NICU right after. She breathed in amniotic fluid." I was really drugged up. It took me a while to understand what she said. When it hit me I got scared. When I was able to finally walk. I was taken in a wheel chair to see her. I wanted to cry a lot but I knew that all I could do was have faith that everything was going to turn out great! She was released after about 12 hours. I got to hold her for the first time just to pick her up while the nurse had to prep her bed where she was going to get her shot. After almost 2 long hours she was finally in my room. I was finally able to rest. We stayed for 4 days. Not because of me. We were just waiting for them to tell us she was good to go. After all this mess were we just glad to be home.

More preggo pictures

Today since my mother was here and the weather was beautiful we decided to take pictures once more since I am closer to labor. They came out great. I loved them and loved taking them. We took the pictures where Casey proposed. We thought it be a good idea. The weather was a bit chilly but it was very pretty. We definitely enjoyed the nice time and each others company outside of the apartment. Sometimes it can get a bit boring.
